Tips and tricks for a flawless photoshoot experience
Q: How far in advance should I book my photoshoot?
A: Book your photoshoot at least 1 month before if you have a specific deadline. ex: birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I can not rush photos if your birthday is 2 days after your photoshoot, so please book accordingly. Typically turnaround for edited images is 12-15 business days.
Q: Do I have to wear makeup for my photoshoot?
A: While it is not required to wear makeup for your photoshoot, it is highly recommended that everyone gets their makeup professionally done for their session to ensure the most polished & put together look. Even the most beautiful model has a touch of makeup on during a photoshoot.

Q: Why does the photographer choose the edited pictures? Why don’t I get the unedited photos?
A: I consider myself an artist first and a photographer second. More often than not, when a client is looking at unedited photos of themselves, they are unnecessarily critiquing themselves or not looking at the photos through an artistic lens. With my help, you will receive the best pics of the bunch that have a truly timeless & artistic look no matter the concept of the photoshoot. Lastly, during each session I take anywhere from 1,000-2,000 photos, which would simply be too many to send to a client at the rates I am providing.
Q: Can I do a nude or boudoir photoshoot?
A: I do not photograph full nudity in my sessions & reserve the right to decline any session with lingerie/boudoir looks if I deem necessary. I aim to make all photoshoots I take part in a work of art & will not photograph anything overtly raunchy. Please contact me directly via email if you have any questions about this at mayaexplains@gmail.com.
Q: Do I have to provide my own props?
A: Typically, clients will provide their own props unless I have what they are needing already on hand. I keep boho style props and chairs/stools available as well as plants. Please refer to previous photoshoots in my portfolio to see the props readily available. Feel free to ask before your shoot to check if I have what you need on hand.
Q: Can I bring friends to my photoshoot with me?
A: If you are doing your photoshoot alone, you are free to bring 1 person along to accompany you for comfortability and safety. No more than one guest may come under any circumstances, they will be asked to wait outside. Kids/babies are not allowed unless being photographed under any circumstances.
